Confirm the scope before installation day
Review the exact rooms, closets, halls, stairs, carpet, padding, transitions, old-floor removal, furniture plan, disposal, doors, and special access requirements. Confirm which areas must remain usable during the work.
Clear small and fragile items
Installers need open floor space and safe paths between the entrance, staging area, and rooms.
- Remove breakables, lamps, plants, small tables, and floor decorations
- Disconnect electronics and move cords out of the work area
- Empty closet floors and low shelves that interfere with installation
- Take down fragile wall decorations near work paths
- Secure pets and arrange a safe area away from tools and open doors
Discuss large furniture in advance
Do not assume every bed, dresser, sectional, piano, appliance, safe, aquarium, or specialty item can be moved by the installation team. Identify large items during the estimate and agree on who handles them.
Prepare access and parking
Carpet rolls, padding, tools, and removed material require a practical path. Share elevator reservations, building rules, loading times, parking restrictions, stairs, narrow doors, and long walks before the appointment.
Plan for the final walkthrough
Review seams, transitions, edges, stairs, door movement, closets, cleanup, leftover material, and care guidance before the crew leaves. Ask when furniture can return and when normal vacuuming should begin.
